JD(S) Karnataka unit chief H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday alleged that the BJP was trying to poach his party's lawmakers by offering them Rs 100 crore and the lure of cabinet post in the state government.
Addressing a press conference after being elected legislature party chief at a high-profile meeting, Kumaraswamy claimed the BJP was using black money and cautioned the saffron outfit from indulging in horse trading.
"JD(S) MLAs are being offered Rs 100 crore each. Where is this black money coming from? They are supposedly the servers of poor people and they are offering money today. Where are the income tax officials?" Kumaraswamy said.

Kumaraswamy, being billed as the next chief minister of Karnataka by the JD(S)-Congress combine, said that if the BJP attempted a reprise of 'Operation Kamal' to power its way to a majority, it would have to suffer the consequences.
"I warn the BJP if they try Operation Kamal + again, it will boomerang against them. We have the power to poach twice the number of BJP MLAs + ," he said.
Operation Kamal refers to the 2008 assembly polls in Karnataka, when the BJP emerged as the single largest party but could not cross the halfway mark. The BJP allegedly engineered the defection of 4 JD(S) and 3 Congress MLAs and successfully staked claim to form government in the state. Those who defected from their parties were allegedly promised huge rewards, re-elections and important posts in government bodies.
Kumaraswamy said the Congress- JD( S) combine had a "clear majority" with the support of 116 MLAs.
"Without the numbers, how can they (BJP) form the government?" he asked.
The JD(S) stalwart asserted that under no circumstances would he consider an alliance with the BJP after the party insulted his father, H D Deve Gowda, and pulled the rug from under their feet with 'Operation Kamal' in 2008.
"I have been offered from both sides. I am not saying this loosely. There's a black spot on my father's career because of my decision to go with the BJP in 2004 and 2005. So God has given me opportunity to remove this black spot. So I am going with Congress," he said.
