Ett lite intervju med Brian Siders

Fant dette på en side.

What is your Vision?

To become one of the Strongest Drug Free Powerlifters in the World.

What are some of your Goals?

To continue to improve my 3 lifts in competition. Inovate new ways to train & improve my overall strength. To Total over 2600 lbs. Have fun & stay healthy.

How do you stay Disciplined?

By focusing on only my daily goals. Each daily goal is a building block for my short term goals that then become building blocks for my long term goals. In other words
I keep in mind the big picture but focus on each training session, one at a time.
Many people have set large goals for themselves, but forget to do the simple things...like driving to the gym to workout!

Tell us why you remain Drug Free?

I guess my personal choice is based on two reasons. One is my curiousity to see what I am capable of lifing without the use of drugs. Secondly, it would be that I'm
just plain stubborn. I want to show the people that say you can't lift that weight
Drug Free...that it can be done and that I just lifted it! I also want to show people especially beginners that hard work and a Drug Free lifestyle can prevail.

What got you interested in Powerlifting?

I began lifting weights to become a better football player in highschool and in college. I read an article about Ed Coan in Muscle & Fitness about 10 years ago, and I was lucky enough to join a powerlifting club called Holley Strength Systems shortly after reading the article.

How much could you lift when your first started?

The first time I tried to Bench, I couldn't even get 135 lbs.
This is what motivated me to start training.

Who are your Workout partners?

John Pauly, Jim Rubenstein, Phil Pfister, Wyatt Derr, Jack Walker
and a lot of other guys at our gym that always are willing to help out.

Who is or was your Coach/Mentor?

First off I'm very fortunate to have such a great support team. John Messenger & Vince White who I have known for almost 10 years, have both taught me almost everything I know. Over the last couple of years, Sherman Ledford of Quest Nutrition has always been at my meets lending two helping hands. Wade Hooper who
is a great lifter himself...has always been both helpful & an inspiration to me.
His support at both National & World competition has been invaluable.

Describe a normal workout?

Usually 3-5 core exercises that are or resemble a competition lift followed by 4-6 assistance exercises. Lots of tiring sets. High Volume seems to work well for me.

How many times per week do you lift weights?

Six when I'm pretty far out from a contest and Seven days a week
starting 10 weeks out from a contest.

How many times per week do you train your competition lifts?

Two to three days usually. Three depending on the time of year.

How long does each workout last?

Three hours plus a little change, by the time I help everyone else, stretch, etc.

Where do you workout?

I am now lucky enough to have a small training facility at my house with everything
I need. I train at home 3-4 days per week and train at the main gym
"Holley Strength Systems" on the days that are more difficult.

What is your favorite lift in Powerlifting?

The Total

What is your least favorite lift or exercise?

Any type of curl

How do you prepare Mentally for a meet?

I try to think about the meet only as I need to for motivation, I try not to dwell on it at all unless I am training. Prior to the meet I try not to think about it until I begin warming up for the squat...then I focus all my energy into the meet.

What is your favorite food?

Probably chinese or any type of steak/grilled food. Being a superheavyweight, which means I have to eat all of the time...I seem to get sick of foods quickly, expecially if I am trying to gain weight. Sometimes I'm just as content downing a protein shake as
I am eating solid food. It's probably more about the time though...the shake is fast!

Do you have a Nickname?

Haha...Phil Pfister likes to call me Gigantore

What is your Occupation?

I am a Correctional Psychologist at a maximum security prison.

Sponsors you would like to thank?

Aqua Hydrate, IAD, MHP and Quest Nutrition

Tell us about your Family?

My wife's name is Amy. She is very supportive of my lifting and loves to travel with me when possible. At this time we have no children...but do have two dogs. A black lab named Maximus and a beagle named Milly and one ferret named Lilly. I had another ferret named Milo that just recently died and is burried behind my gym.

Jeg tipper at Brian Siders fungerer stikk motsatt for de innsatte.  Han kan sikkert tilby masse omsorg når de barske gutta trenger å gråte en skvett.
